Grayson Perry

Grayson Perry is a typical artist in the regular untypical way. A cross-dressing sculptor and British art pioneer, Perry attacks the art world covering many mediums and shining his personal ascetic and style on each one.

Perry was never interested in art that sold, he simply wanted to make art that he enjoyed. He was not initially interested in pottery or ceramics but as he worked with it more and more he began to develop a relationship with the forms, not the typical one either. He worked with vases and carved/ etched imagery on the exterior creating a strikingly nontraditional vessel.

His ceramics thrust him into worldwide recondition and soon to follow were his large-scale  tapestries. He exclusively works alone with no aid or assistants which brings his art up to his level of well made mistakes as he puts it.

Perry also works in print and has a deep fascination with old maps and their interactions with images.

A humorous and social individual, Perry is definitely an artist to keep your
eye on.
